The Ahrar Center for Detainees Studies and Human Rights reported on Wednesday that Israeli troops broke into the home of Dr. Majeda Fidda, 42, member of Nablus Municipality and kidnapped her after confiscating her computer.

Dr. Fidda was kidnapped the first time in 2005 and was place under administrative detention orders without charges or trial for six month after she was interrogated under harsh conditions.

Fuad Al Khuffash, head of the Ahrar Center, slammed the abduction of Dr. Fidda and stated that she is the seventh member of Nablus City council who was abducted by the army over the past two years as the army kidnapped Nablus Mayor Adly Yaish, Mahdi Al Hanbaly, Kholoud Al Masry, Husam Qatalooni, Adnan Ghazal and Abdul-Jabbar Dweikat.

Al Khuffash stated that the abduction of members of city councils, mayors and officials, is another Israeli violation and assault against democracy and the free will of the Palestinian people.

He voiced an appeal to different human rights groups to intervene and raise the issue of female detainees on the international level.

Moreover, the Ahrar Center confirmed the release of Engineer Issa Al Ja’bary, the Minister of Local Government at the tenth Palestinian government. Al Ja’bary was imprisoned by Israel for two years.

He spent the two years under administrative detention orders and after extended period of interrogation.
