The Israeli police interrogated Sheikh Ikrima Sabri, the Mufti of Jerusalem and the head of the Higher Islamic Committee, after claiming that he incited the Palestinians to conduct acts that harm Israel’s general security.Sabri was interrogated from 4-7 pm on Wednesday, and the interrogators even tried to claim that he hurled stones at Border Guard Policemen.

On His side, Sabri accused the Israeli police of allowing fundamental settlers to enter the Al Aqsa Mosque, and of firing gas bombs and rubber coated bullets at Muslim worshipers.

More than 17 Palestinians were wounded by Israeli military fire on Monday in the yards of the Al Aqsa Mosque.

Sheik Sabri held Israel responsible for Sunday clashes, as the Israeli police allowed extremist settlers into the area, and the settlers attacked and provoked Muslim worshipers.

He said that during interrogation, the police inquired about statements he made to local, regional and international media agencies.
