Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, stated Monday that declaring a Palestinian State should not be conducted before ending the Israeli occupation, and that the statements of Dr. Saeb Erekat in this regard have no significance.Dr. Salah Bardaweel of Hamas stated that the late president, Yasser Arafat, declared a state in 1988, and that a second declaration is a meaningless repetition.

Dr. Bardaweel added that should the Palestinians declare a state, it should be from the river to the sea, not only in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

He further said that the Palestinians must focus all their attention towards liberating Palestine.

Hamas movement released a statement saying that declaring a Palestinian state should be done after voiding the Oslo peace deals, and after liberating Palestine.

“A state should ensure liberation of the land and Jerusalem”, Hamas stated, “A state should ensure the Right of Return”.
