Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, stated Tuesday that the Palestinian “demands” for a full settlement freeze could lead for delaying the peace talks for another year. He told congress members during his visit to Washington that Israel “cannot be held hostage to illogical and irrational demands”, and added that this issue could lead to halting the talks for another year.

He made his statements at the Congress during a meeting with Democrat and Republicans congress members.

The Palestinian Authority withdrew from the indirect peace talks with Israel two weeks ago, and said that the American-mediated talks cannot continue while Israel continues to build settlements and continues to approve more construction plans in the West
Bank and in occupied East Jerusalem.

Israel recently declared another plan to build 1600 units for settlers in Jerusalem and the West Bank.

The indirect talks were suspended in December of 2008.
