The fan page of Ismail Haniyya, Prime Minister of the Hamas-led government in Gaza, has been removed from Facebook, the Palestinian Information Center reported. In reaction to the removal of Haniyya’s page, fans addressed a letter to Facebook administration requesting to have the page reinstated. Fans also asked the administration team to ensure protection of pages that Arabs use to express admiration for resistance leaders in Palestine and the Arab world.
Israel is suspected to have orchestrated the move.
Haniyya’s profile contained more than 10,000 fans.
Earlier, a facebook page setup by supporters of Hasan Nasrallah, the leaders of the Lebanon-based Hezbollah party, was also removed from Facebook.
