Hamas leader, and Prime Minister of the dissolved Hamas-led government in Gaza, Ismail Haniyya, stated that the Palestinian people want real reconciliation that addresses the current political changes in the Arab World, and that this reconciliation cannot be reached amidst collaboration with Israel and, ongoing political arrests.Haniyya slammed the Palestinian Authority headed by President Mahmoud Abbas in the West Bank, for what he called “its collaboration with the occupation to target the resistance, the political arrests and military courts conducted by Palestinian courts against Palestinian fighters and political activists in the West Bank”.
He also hinted that the P.A. in the West Bank is also collaborating with Israel on enforcing the Israeli siege on the Gaza Strip.
Haniyya stated that real reconciliation can only be achieved amidst a clear vision and will to safeguard the interests of the Palestinian people amidst a full political partnership far away from external pressures.
“Reconciliation should not just be about statements made for public consumption”, the Hamas leader said, “The people deserve to remain informed, they deserve the truth, this is what is needed in order to advance reconciliation talks”.
