The organizers of the “Freedom Flotilla 2” have said they intend to sail irrespective of Turkish organization IHH’s participation, according to Haaretz.Organizers of the upcoming “Freedom Flotilla 2” due to sail on the 22nd of June in an effort to break Israel’s siege of Gaza have said they will sail irrespective of the participation of the Turkish Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH).
The IHH are currently deliberating on whether to participate with the flotilla citing recent events in Syria as well as the easing of the siege through Rafah’s relaxed rules on individuals entry and exit.
Speaking to Haaretz organizers of the flotilla said that while Turkish participation is important, the flotilla would still sail as planned. The flotilla’s participants would be halved from 1,000 to 500 given a Turkish pullout.
YNet reported that the flotilla suffered a further setback due to the French contingent having to withdraw on account of massive pressure on French authorities from the French Jewish community. The French vessel, costing organizers over half a million euro, was refused permission to dock in the French port of Marseilles.
