The Israeli army placed the occupied West Bank under full and tight security closure starting by Midnight Tuesday as Israel will be marking Rosh Hashanah (The Jewish New Year), and Yum Kippur (Day of Atonement).Israeli sources reported that additional Israeli soldiers and policemen will be deployed along the northern and southern borders of the country.
The Police will also be extensively deployed in southern areas, especially areas adjacent to Sinai and southern Egypt.
The closure in itself is not related to the usual claim of ‘potential security threats’, as it is a measure Israel conducts every-year during Jewish and Israeli holidays.
Meanwhile, in his message to the Jewish people in Israel, the U.S. and around the world, U.S. President Barack Obama, said that the United States is committed to supporting Israel, adding that “the bond between the United States and Israel is unbreakable”.
Israeli Ynet News reported on its website that a recent poll by a Jewish advocacy group revealed that “Jewish approval of the performance of Obama dropped to %45”, yet added that Obama “would still hold a lead on republican candidates”.
