Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met with the president of the Parliamentary Assembly, Molod Shawish Oglo, today, October 6, at the Palace of Europe in Strasbourg. Mr. Oglo discussed efforts to urge member states in the Security Council to vote for the admission of Palestine as a United Nations member.
On the Palestinian side, the meeting was attended by the head of the Negotiation Department of the PLO, Saeb Erekat; a member of the Central Committee of Fatah, Azzam al-Ahmed; the General Secretary of the Palestinian People’s Party, Bassam Al-Salhi; a member of the Legislative Council, Qais Abu Leila; Fatah Leader Nabil Abu Rudeineh; and the Ambassador of Palestine to Belgium and the European Union, Leila Shahid.
