An Israeli source reported, Tuesday morning, that one Israeli soldier was wounded after being stabbed in an area east of the central West Bank city of Ramallah. Soldiers opened fire at a number of residents wounding three brothers. Israeli daily Yedioth Aharonoth reported on its website that the soldier was moved to an Israeli hospital suffering mild wounds in his back.
The soldier was part of a military brigade invading Rammoun village, east of Ramallah.
An Israeli military spokesperson claimed that the army was conducting what he called “a routine activity” in the Palestinian village when a knife wielding resident attacked them and stabbed one member of their unit.
Soldiers, according to the military spokesperson, responded by firing several rounds of live ammunition which wounded the three brothers, identified as Rashad, Anwar and Akram Theeb; one of them suffered a serious injury while his two brothers suffered moderate wounds.
Local sources reported that the army prevented local medics from reaching the wounded resident.
