Palestinian sources in Syria reported that six Palestinians were killed, on Wednesday, in the Syria capital Damascus and the city of Aleppo. The six were killed execution style; four of them were reportedly killed at a roadblock near Aleppo, while two were killed in their homes. The Coordination Committee In Al-Yarmouk Refugee Camp in Syria reported the six were killed by the Syrian army.
The Committee identified the casualties as Raed Hajjouj, Annar Abbas, Hussein Al-Masry, Mohammad Al-Gada’, Hikmat Dirbaas, and Hassan Salaima. Their bodies carried clear marks of torture.
The Palestinian Ambassador in Syria, Mahmoud Al-Khalildi, told the Maan News Agency that the Palestinians are not connected to the current events in Syria, and added that the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) and Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, always stressed on the importance of not meddling in the revolution in Syria.
He added that the Al-Yarmouk refugee camp is geographically connected to At-Tadamon and Al-Hajar Al-Aswad neighborhoods, therefore, dozens of Syrian families who left their homes in fear for their lives took shelter in the camp, an issue that, according to the Ambassador, led to the death of several Palestinians.
Hundreds of Palestinian casualties have been reported since the revolution started in Syria in March of 2011.
The Committee voiced an urgent appeal to the Palestinian factions of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), and the Hamas movement, to refrain from interfering in the current events in Syria.
