Gaza – Thursday evening November 14, 2013, Palestinian sources have reported that the Israeli Air Force carried out two separate airstrikes targeting what appeared to be open areas in Gaza city and Beit Hanoun.The sources said that an Israeli F16 jet fired missiles targeting al vacant land in the Az-Zeitoun neighborhood in Gaza City, causing fires but no casualties.
The Air Force also fired missiles into a vacant area east of Beit Hanoun city in the northern part of the Gaza Strip.
Eyewitnesses said that F-16 jets were seen flying over different parts of the coastal region.
The Israeli military said the attacks targeted launching pads used by Palestinian gunmen in firing homemade shells into adjacent Israeli areas.
It added that Palestinian fighters fired, on Thursday morning, two mortars targeting Israeli soldiers operating along the border with Gaza, causing no damage or injuries.
