Egyptian authorities have closed the Rafah crossing for five days in a row, now, says Director General of Borders and Crossings in Gaza Maher, Abu Sabha.He has called on Egypt to open the crossing permanently, to reduce the suffering of Palestinian people in Gaza, reports Al Ray News Agency.

Abu Sabha confirmed, in a statement, that he contacted the Egyptian side, demanding them to open the crossing for humanitarian cases.

Rafah crossing is considered the main crossing for 1.8 million Gazans.

There have been frequent closures of the Rafah terminal, in recent months, due to Egyptian coup. Since then, Egyptian authorities have opened it two or three times a month only for patients, students and people who hold residential lease agreement.
