Israeli navy attack fishermen in Gaza, meanwhile Israeli troops kidnap civilians during invasions in the West Bank. These stories, and more, coming up, stay tuned.
Israeli navy kidnapped on Monday midday five Palestinian fishermen as they were sailing near the northern shores of Gaza city.
Local sources said that navy ship opened fire at the fishermen boat forcing it to stop then took the five men to unknown destination. The fishermen were sailing within the 6 nautical limited allowed for Palestinians.
Last week, the Palestinian center for human rights, PCHR, documented at least five attacks by Israeli navy targeting Palestinian fishing boats. On March alone Israeli have conducted 35 attacks targeting fishermen in Gaza, the PCHR reported.
Elsewhere, Israeli soldiers kidnapped, on Monday at dawn, nine Palestinians in different parts of the occupied West Bank, including Jerusalem.
Media sources in Bethlehem said several army vehicles invaded Husan town, west of the city, broke into and violently searched several homes and kidnapped three Palestinians. In Nablus troops kidnapped 2 civilians during searches in the city and nearby villages.
Also on Monday at dawn, soldiers invaded the northern West Bank city of Jenin, and the Jaba’ nearby town, and kidnapped two Palestinians. Two more Palestinians were kidnapped from their homes in Silwan town, south of the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem, after the soldiers searched their homes and many other homes in the town.
Moreover, Israeli soldiers also invaded Ta’nak village, west of Jenin, and handed family there a military warrant, ordering them to demolish their artesian well, under the pretext of lacking the needed permits.
Over the week end, Israeli setters set a Palestinian home on fire on Sunday at dawn at the Tel Rumeida neighborhood in Hebron city.
According to the owner of the house six young Israeli settlers escaped from his roof, as he was trying to get his wife and kids out of the burning building. The settlers – all appearing to be in their early twenties – accessed the roof of the house and poured gasoline down one side. They then proceeded to set the whole area ablaze including a sofa situated in the terrace.
According to witnesses Israeli soldiers were in the area and did nothing to stop the settlers. When the owner approached them to ask them if they saw who did it, troops accused him of starting the fire. The family escaped the fire unharmed.
