Two Palestinians from Jerusalem have resurrected John Lennon & Yoko Ono’s ‘Happy Christmas’, in a call to peace across the Middle East and around the globe.Bashar Murad, of East Jerusalem, and Muhammad Mughrabi, of Shu’fat refugee camp, recently covered the famous tune with the aim of reminding viewers of the daily horrors which occur around the world, while simultaneously providing hope for better days, according to WAFA Palestinian News & Info Agency.
Murad’s soulful voice comforts listeners with the classic anti-war tune as dichotomous footage from the Israeli occupation, Syrian refugees, police brutality in USA, religious extremism in France, Lebanon, Somalia, Kenya, and Nigeria, and much more, rolls in time.
The song was recorded and produced by Sabreen Association for Artistic Development in Jerusalem, the video filmed at the Mount of Olives, Jerusalem and Shu’fat refugee camp.
