In a statement, on Sunday, the Arab League Assistant Secretary General for Palestine and Occupied Arab Territories, Saeed Abu Ali, denounced the Israeli plan to establish a settlement neighborhood in place of the former Qalandia Airport in Jerusalem, the Palestinian News and Info Agency reported.
“This announcement comes within the framework of the escalation of Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, with the encouragement and help of the US administration, in line with the Deal of the Century,” the Arab League official said.
Abu Ali stated that Israel is undermining the international system, and he called on the international community to intervene to enforce the relevant Security Council resolutions, especially Resolution No. 2334 of 2016.
The Qalandia airport, first opened in 1920, was closed to civilian traffic by Israeli authorities in 2000, when the second Palestinian Uprising (Intifada) began.
