Israeli occupation soldiers and police officers invaded the Professional Unions Complex in Beit Hanina, north of occupied Jerusalem in the West Bank, on Friday, and forcibly disrupted the scheduled elections of the Palestinian Medical Syndicate.
The Jerusalem Governorate reported that Israeli intelligence and police stormed the building, blocked the electoral process, and abducted Dr. Samir Matar, a participating physician.
The elections were set to take place across all governorates to select a new head of the Medical Syndicate.
The obstruction in Beit Hanina reflects a broader pattern of Israeli interference targeting Palestinian civil institutions in the occupied West Bank.
Earlier Friday, Israeli soldiers abducted three Palestinians during a military invasion of Hebron city, in the southern part of the occupied West Bank.
