In addition, the United Nations Human Rights Council intends to consider, Friday, a draft resolution calling for an embargo on arms to Israel, due to the “plausible risk of genocide.”

The draft calls on all states to stop the sale, transfer, and diversion of arms, munition, and all military supplies to Israel, to avoid further violations of International Law and the violations of human rights.

If the draft resolution is adopted by the United Nations, the issue would be the first time that the UN’s leading human rights organization to take a position on the Israeli offensive on Gaza.

The draft resolution, which was distributed Wednesday, also condemns Israel’s use of starvation of civilians as a weapon of war, and demands Israel to “uphold its responsibility to prevent genocide.”

Co-sponsored by Cuba, Bolivia, and the Palestinian Mission in Geneva, the draft resolution also demands that Israel must end its occupation of Palestine, immediately lift the blockade on the Gaza Strip, and end all forms of collective punishment against the Palestinian people.

The Palestinian Health Ministry said the army committed five massacres against families, killing 59 Palestinians and wounding 83, mostly women and children, in less than twenty-four hours.
