On Wednesday, Day 82 of the ongoing Israeli onslaught, the Israeli army continued the bombing of various parts of the devastated, impoverished, and besieged Gaza Strip, killing dozens of Palestinians and wounding hundreds, largely women and children.
Most of the Israeli bombings and shelling were concentrated in the central district of the coastal region, especially in the Al-Boreij and Al-Maghazi refugee camps, where the missiles even struck centers used to shelter families that fled their homes in northern Gaza.
Eyewitnesses said the Israeli missiles and shells killed many Palestinians, including those who remain in the streets while ambulances and rescue teams are unable to reach them due to the intensity of the bombings.
Many Palestinians from the Nassar family and the Al-Hazouqi families were killed, and dozens were injured after the Nusseirat refugee camp was bombarded and shelled by ground and aerial Israeli forces.
Some of the slain and wounded Palestinians were moved to Al-Aqsa and Al-Awda hospitals as the medics and civil defense were unable to reach all bombarded areas.
The Israeli army also fired missiles and shells at areas east of Rafah city and the Al-Fakhari area, along with all other areas east of Khan Younis, in the southern parts of the Gaza Strip,
In Gaza City, the army fired many missiles and artillery shells at many areas, especially the Sheja’eyya neighborhood and the Al-Katiba area, killing and wounding scores of Palestinians.
Local sources said more than 60 Palestinians, mainly women and children, are buried under the rubble of a three-story building near the Al-Azhar University in Gaza City after the army bombarded it.
In the Saftawi area in Gaza City, Israeli sharpshooters killed at least six Palestinians and injured several others after the army occupied some buildings to use as sniper posts.
Furthermore, Jabalia town and its surroundings, and various areas in northern Gaza, especially Beit Hanoun, are subject to heavy bombing by the army, including the Israeli Air Force; however, the telecommunication blackout and the lack of means to reach them made it difficult to medics, hospitals, and journalists receive any information from these areas.
The Israeli army, for the seventh time since October 7, caused a total blackout of communications, including internet and cell coverage, especially after barring all sorts of international communications from reaching Gaza.
On Saturday, the Palestinian Health Ministry said the army committed 16 massacres against entire families in Gaza, killing 195 Palestinians and wounding more than 325, mostly women and children.
On its part, the Israeli army said Wednesday morning that the number of soldiers who were killed since the offensive on Gaza began has reached 498, including 164 since the army initiated the ground invasion on October 27. The Israeli army chief of staff said the offensive could last for “many more months.”
At least 47 Israeli soldiers are in critical condition; 262 sustained moderate wounds, and 133 were mildly injured since the ground invasion began. Since October 7, 329 soldiers were seriously injured, 275 were moderately injured, and 1161 sustained mild wounds.
While the number of deaths and injuries among the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip is much higher, especially due to ongoing Israeli bombing and air strikes, the number of officially declared slain Palestinians is more than 21.110, and at least 53.243 wounded, in addition to the thousands who remain missing since October 7; the majority of slain and wounded Palestinians are women and children.
