On Friday, Palestinian political prisoner Raed Rayyan ended the hunger strike, which lasted for 113 days, after reaching an agreement limiting his Administrative Detention orders before releasing him.
The Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) said Rayyan, 27, from Beit Duqqu near occupied Jerusalem, reached a very serious health condition but remained determined to continue the strike until his Administrative Detention is ended.
Rayyan’s father said he was surprised to receive a phone call from his son, apparently through his lawyer, at the Ramla Prison Clinic informing him that the agreement was reached under several guarantees, including imprisoned senior political leaders, such as the Secretary General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), who will conduct various protest measures, including a comprehensive hunger in all Israeli prisons, especially Ofar, Ramon and the Negev Detention Camp, if Israel reneges on the agreement.
While detailed information remains unavailable, the agreement states that Israel will not renew the current Administrative Detention orders.
It is worth mentioning that Rayyan was abducted on November 3rd, 2021, and was slapped with a four-month Administrative Detention order before he was slapped with a six-month Administrative Detention order.
He is also a former political prisoner who spent 21 months under the same Administrative Detention orders without charges or trial.
