Eight Palestinians were killed in the occupied Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours, the Gaza Ministry of Health said Tuesday, raising the death toll from Israel’s ongoing assault since October 2023 to 72,988, amid continued Israeli attacks despite the ceasefire that took effect on 10 October 2025.

The Ministry of Health reported 34 injuries during the same period and noted that additional victims remain under the rubble and on roadways, where ambulance and civil defense crews are unable to reach them.

A Palestinian child, Malak Abdullah Qaddoum, succumbed to the serious wounds she sustained two days earlier when Israeli forces bombarded an area west of Gaza City, an attack that instantly killed her father and her sister.

Since the ceasefire began, the Ministry of Health has documented 978 Palestinians killed and 3,097 injured, with 782 bodies recovered from destroyed areas.

The ministry also said Israeli forces abducted seven paramedics from the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) while they were passing through a military roadblock on Salahuddin Street in central Gaza. Five were later released after interrogation, while two remain in Israeli custody.

The ministry condemned the abductions, stating that targeting medical teams violates international humanitarian law and obstructs lifesaving services.

Separately, the Fishermen’s Committees in Gaza reported that Israeli naval forces abducted nine fishermen on Tuesday while they were working off the coasts of Gaza City and Deir al‑Balah.

Their boats were intercepted and they were taken to an undisclosed location. The committees said the incident is part of a pattern of ongoing violations that include abductions, gunfire, and the confiscation of boats and fishing equipment.

These developments come as the Israeli military announced it had struck what it described as the headquarters of Hamas’s naval police in Khan Younis on Sunday, claiming it also targeted “three weapons storage sites” in southern Gaza.

The army said the sites were “prepared for attacks” and alleged that the naval police facility was used to plan operations. According to the military statement, the strike killed several fighters, including Ismael al‑Lahham, identified as a commander in the group’s military wing. These claims could not be independently verified.

The humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate sharply. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said Israeli strikes continue daily, causing civilian casualties and further displacement, while most residents remain confined to overcrowded areas with limited access to water, sanitation, and essential services.

OCHA reports that solid waste is accumulating in residential zones, and severe water shortages persist, forcing families to choose between drinking, hygiene, and disease prevention.

UNRWA has also warned of a deepening public health crisis, noting that the spread of rodents and infections in displacement sites reflects the near‑collapse of Gaza’s health system. The agency reports that 72,619 Palestinians were killed and 172,484 injured between October 2023 and May 2026, according to Ministry of Health figures relayed by OCHA.

The Gaza Ministry of Health reiterated that the continued targeting of civilians, medical workers, and fishermen—alongside the obstruction of humanitarian access—further undermines already fragile conditions across the Strip, where the majority of the population remains displaced and dependent on limited aid flows.
