General Strike to Commence on 70th Nakba Day

Palestinian Authority spokesperson Yousef al-Mahmoud, on Monday, announced a general strike for Tuesday, to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Nakba, the day when some 700,000 Palestinians were forced out of their homes and displaced by Israel, in 1948.

He said, “Based on instructions by President Mahmoud Abbas, Palestinians will observe a general strike and all government institutions and departments will be closed.”
