On Thursday, as part of the ceasefire agreement between the Israel and the Hamas Resistance Movement, 3 Israelis and 5 Thai nationals were released in Gaza, while 110 Palestinian detainees were released by occupation authorities in the third such exchange since the ceasefire came into effect on January 19th.
In the Gaza Strip, the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas and the Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, released three Israeli “hostages” two of whom are soldiers, Agam Berger, 20, Arbel Yehoud, 29, and Gadi Mozes, 80, in addition to five Thai nationals, facilitated by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
The Detainees’ and Former Detainees’ Affairs Commission and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS) reported that of the 110 Palestinian detainees released, 32 were sentenced to life imprisonment and 30 are children.
On Thursday evening, hundreds of Palestinian families gathered at the Ramallah Recreational Complex to welcome the detainees arriving from Ofer prison.
Among those released detainees is Zakaria Al-Zubeidi from the Jenin refugee camp who was abducted in 2019 and along with five other detainees, escaped from the Gilboa prison in 2021.
On Thursday night, 28 Palestinian detainees arrived in the Gaza Strip, including 19 detainees from the West Bank who were deported to Gaza as a condition for their release.
