On Sunday, Israeli soldiers invaded the Suwwana neighborhood in the At-Tour town, east of occupied East Jerusalem, and posted demolition notices on the walls of a residential building.

The Israeli army claimed that the building was constructed without a permit from the City Council, the same council that continuously denies construction permits for the Palestinians while continuing to build and expand the segregated colonies on stolen Palestinian lands, in addition to the buildings it frequently illegally annexes from the Palestinians to give them to the illegal Israeli colonizers.

It is worth mentioning senior Palestinian Islamic and social figure, the Imam of the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem and the head of the Higher Islamic Committee, Sheikh Ekrima Sabri, lives in one of the apartments of the five-story building.

In related news, the soldiers invaded Silwan town, south of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and abducted a young man, Orabi Gheith, after storming and ransacking his home.

All of Israel’s colonies in the occupied West Bank, including those in and around occupied East Jerusalem, are illegal under International Law, the Fourth Geneva Convention in addition to various United Nations and Security Council resolutions. They also constitute war crimes under International Law.

Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention states: “The Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies.” It also prohibits the “individual or mass forcible transfers, as well as deportations of protected persons from occupied territory”.
