Two Palestinian citizens were injured on Friday during assaults carried out by Israeli soldiers and illegal paramilitary Israeli colonizers in the Jalayta area, east of Ethna town, west of Hebron in the occupied West Bank’s southern region, after the army declared the area a closed military zone and barred residents from reaching their lands.
Local sources said Israeli soldiers expelled farmers and residents who had gone to check on their lands following new colonial activities that included plowing Palestinian‑owned agricultural land and destroying crops.
Residents performed Friday prayers in the area in rejection of the Israeli measures and attempts to impose a new reality on the ground. Israeli soldiers then fired tear‑gas canisters at them and prevented them from reaching their lands.
One Palestinian was shot by Israeli soldiers, while another was assaulted by colonizers. Palestinian Red Crescent Society medics transferred both to a hospital for treatment.
In the same context, Israeli colonizers set fire to Palestinian‑owned agricultural fields in the area, causing damage to the land and crops.
Residents affirmed their commitment to their lands and their rejection of the ongoing Israeli measures and colonial assaults targeting farmers and their property.
In related news, Israeli soldiers invaded a Palestinian home in Deir Dibwan, east of Ramallah, on Friday, detaining its residents in a single room after they confronted a group of illegal paramilitary Israeli colonizers attempting to storm the property.
