Israeli authorities have ordered the seizure of 7.498 dunums of Palestinian land in Qabatia, south of Jenin in the northern occupied West Bank, under an urgent military order issued on what they called “security grounds.”
According to the Colonization & Wall Resistance Commission (CWRC), Military Order No. M.D. 28/26 targets specific plots of Palestinian land in Basins 28 and 34 of Qabatia. The order authorizes the confiscation of land located between several designated parcels within the town.
Maps accompanying the order indicate that the Israeli military plans to build a military road from an existing route to the site of a planned military watchtower.
The order will remain in effect for 60 days from the date of its issuance, granting Israeli military authorities full control of the designated land during that period.
The order also strictly limits legal appeals: affected landowners must file an appeal within 24 hours of a field inspection conducted by the Israeli Coordination and Liaison Administration.
The commission said the planned military road and watchtower are directly north of the recently established colonial outpost known as “Noah,” where additional structures have been installed in recent months.
Palestinian officials warned that the project reflects a continuing pattern in which military orders issued on security grounds are used to develop infrastructure that facilitates colonial expansion, increases control over Palestinian land, and supports the growth of nearby colonial outposts.
Research and monitoring reports cited by Palestinian officials have documented that such orders, although formally presented as temporary security measures, can produce lasting changes in land use.
According to those reports, military roads, buffer zones, and bases may later serve nearby colonies or be incorporated into expanding colonial infrastructure. Repeated renewals can also prolong Israeli control and contribute to what researchers describe as de facto, or functional, annexation.
