On Tuesday, Israeli soldiers demolished a Palestinian home in Nablus, in the occupied West Bank’s northern part.
Media sources said several military vehicles, including two bulldozers, invaded the Ta’awon Al-Olwi area and demolished a home owned by Faseeh Al-Masri.
They added that the soldiers forced the Palestinians out of their two-story home before demolishing it.
It is worth mentioning that the army issued many demolition orders targeting homes and buildings in the same area, classified as Area C of the West Bank.
Under the Oslo Accords in the years 1993 and 1995, the occupied West Bank was divided into three areas, A, B, and C, after the establishment of the interim Palestinian Authority which was granted limited control over areas A and B.
Meanwhile, Area C, about %60 of the entire West Bank remained under full Israeli control, although supposed to be temporary until a final status agreement is reached and has been the scene of massive demolitions of Palestinian homes and buildings, and ongoing illegal confiscation of Palestinian lands for the construction and expansion of the segregated and illegal Israeli colonies, built in contravention or International Law.
All of Israel’s colonies in the occupied West Bank, including those in and around occupied East Jerusalem, are illegal under International Law, the Fourth Geneva Convention in addition to various United Nations and Security Council resolutions. They also constitute war crimes under International Law.
Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention states: “The Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies.” It also prohibits the “individual or mass forcible transfers, as well as deportations of protected persons from occupied territory”.
Also, Article 8(2) of the Rome Statute, ‘the transfer, directly or indirectly, by an occupying power of parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies, or the deportation or transfer of all or parts of the population of the occupied territory within or outside this territory’ are unlawful.
