On Monday evening, Israeli occupation forces compelled three Palestinian families to demolish their own homes in Sur Baher, south of occupied Jerusalem, and Wadi al-Joz, in the city’s center in the occupied West Bank.
Osama Dabash, one of the homeowners, told the Jerusalem Governorate, “We are demolishing our home with our own hands because Israeli authorities ordered its destruction within two weeks.”
Dabash, who had lived in the house for 45 years, explained that he was forced to tear down part of it under the pretext of lacking a permit for an extension to the property. The demolition caused severe psychological distress for the 32 family members residing there, forcing his brother and nephew to leave in search of alternative shelter.
Similarly, Israeli municipal authorities forced Firas Abu Farha from Wadi al-Joz to demolish his home, leaving his five-member family without shelter.
In related news, the army invaded Al-Isawiya town in East Jerusalem and demolished two barns and a room on land owned by Ziad Mustafa, the Wadi Hilweh Information Center in Silwan (Silwanic) reported.
On May 3, the army invaded the area, demolishing barns, destroying equipment, and uprooting trees—part of ongoing violations against Palestinians to facilitate illegal colonialist projects on confiscated land.
Israeli authorities continue efforts to displace Palestinian families and empty the city of its original inhabitants.
