On Tuesday, Israeli soldiers injured many students and teachers in an elementary school in Huwwara town, south of Nablus, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank.
Media sources said several military vehicles invaded the town just as the schoolchildren and teachers left the local Omar Bin Al-Khattab School and fired many gas bombs and concussion grenades at them.
The school’s principal, Raja Awwad, said many schoolchildren and teachers suffered the effects of tear gas inhalation.
Awwad added that, for over a month, Israeli soldiers have been invading the town in the morning and afternoon, just as the children and teachers are heading to the educational facilities or returning home, an issue that causes constant tension, protests, and injuries.
Awwad said that the teachers coordinate with the locals to stand along the streets leading to the educational facilities to ensure the students’ safety, especially since the town is subject to constant invasions by the soldiers and seriously escalating attacks and violations by the paramilitary colonizers.
