On Monday, the Israeli army conducted massive invasions and violent searches of homes in various parts of the occupied West Bank, destroyed property and infrastructure, killed five Palestinians, including a child, injured several others, and abducted at least 40.

Update: A young man, Obeida Shahem was killed after a soldier shot him during protests after several military jeeps invaded Silwad town, east of the central West Bank city of Ramallah.


Update  Jan 29, 2024, at 13:08: The Palestinian Health Ministry said the Israeli soldiers killed a second Palestinian in Doura town, south of Hebron.

Mohannad Ismael Fasfous

It said a young man, Mohannad Ismael Fasfous, 18, succumbed to serious gunshot wounds to the chest.

He was among four wounded Palestinians, one of them, Mo’taz Mahmoud Tbeish, succumbed to serious gunshot wounds to the head earlier.

In Nablus, in the northern West Bank, the Israeli military vehicles invaded the city, in addition to Balata and Askar refugee camps, east of the city, before storming and ransacking many homes.

During the Askar refugee camp invasion, the soldiers abducted two young men, Mojahed Sheikh and Sa’id Anani.

Israeli military bulldozers destroyed streets and bulldozed and demolished structures in the Balata refugee camp, causing extensive damage to the building and the infrastructure.

Palestinian resistance fighters also exchanged fire with the soldiers who invaded several areas of the refugee camp.

In related news, the army invaded the ‘Aida refugee camp north of Bethlehem in the southern part of the occupied West Bank, stormed and searched homes, and abducted Abdel Khaleq Abu Sorour and Muhammad Rami Hammad.

The soldiers also invaded Nahhalin town, west of Bethlehem, and the northern area of Bethlehem city before breaking into homes, installing roadblocks, and abducting several young men.

In addition, the army invaded several areas in and around Husan town, west of Bethlehem, and closed many roads.

In Tubas, in the northeastern West Bank, several army vehicles invaded the city, leading to massive protests, especially after the soldiers broke into and ransacked homes.

Palestinian fighters also exchanged fire with the invading soldiers and damaged an armored Israeli military vehicle after detonating an explosive charge as it drove by it.

In Hebron, in the West Bank’s southern part, the soldiers invaded Beit Kahil town, west of the city, before breaking into and searching homes.

The army abducted at least seven Palestinians, Abbas Hamza Al-Oweiwi, Mohammad Yasser Al-Qawasmi, Hamed Hasan Al-Qawasmi, from Hebron City, Ehab Saber Abu Arqoub, Nihad Al-Awawda, Mahmoud Taleb Nammoura, and his son Akram, from their homes in Doura town, southwest of Hebron.

The soldiers also detained many Palestinians, fired gas bombs and concussion grenades in Doura town, and collected all mobile phones the young men carried before throwing them in a trash bin.

All schools in Doura announced that the classes will be held online to ensure the safety of the students in the invaded town.

In addition, the army installed many roadblocks, closing roads leading to Hebron city and its surrounding villages and towns and sealing many streets with iron gates, sand barriers, and concrete blocks.

The soldiers also invaded Beit Rima town, northwest of the central West Bank city of Ramallah, and shot a young man with live fire during ensuing protests.

In Ni’lin town, west of Ramallah, the army abducted Mohammad Bassem Sadaqa after storming and searching his home.

Also in Ramallah, the army abducted two siblings, Zakariya and Taha Hamed Armoush, from their home in Betunia town, west of Ramallah, after the soldiers ransacked the property, causing excessive damage.

In addition, the army invaded the towns of Beit Ur At-Tahta, Kharbatha Al-Misbah, and Beit Liqya near Ramallah and violently searched many homes.

In Qalqilia, in the northwestern West Bank, the army invaded Azzoun town, east of the city, before the soldiers invaded and searched homes and abducted Montaser Zamari, Mohammad Tabib, and Ibrahim Sweidan.

During the invasion, the army broke into a coffee shop owned by Mohyuddin Salim in the center of the town and ransacked it, causing serious damage.

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS) said the Israeli army abducted at least 40 Palestinians, including former political prisoners, from various parts of the occupied West Bank, including the occupied capital, Jerusalem.

It is worth mentioning that the Israeli army abducted more than 6,000 Palestinians in several parts of the West Bank since October 7, 2023.

In Jenin, in the northern West Bank, the soldiers shot a young man with live fire in the leg, after several military vehicles invaded the eastern neighborhood of the city.

During the invasion, the soldiers searched many homes and abducted Ibrahim Aref Al-Hashees, Fadi Ibrahim Al-Hashees, Ya’rob Sakran, and Fayez Al-Htoub.

It is worth mentioning that the army abducted Ibrahim to pressure his son, Nour, to turn himself to the army,  and Fayez to pressure his son, Moath, to also surrender to the army.

Furthermore, Israeli soldiers invaded Tuqu town, southeast of Bethlehem in the occupied West Bank, and killed a Palestinian child, Rani Yasser Khalaf Sha’er, 16, after shooting him with a live round.

Also, Israeli soldiers killed a young Palestinian man, Tha’er Na’im Hammo, 21, after shooting him in the abdomen in Al-Yamoun town, west of Jenin.

Israel has now killed 375 Palestinians, including 99 children, and injured 4358, including 657 children, in several parts of the occupied West Bank since October 7, 2023.

Also, on Day 115 of Israel’s ongoing onslaught on the Palestinian people in the devastated war-torn Gaza Strip, Israeli missiles and shells killed dozens of Palestinians and injured hundreds in several parts of the coastal enclave.
