On Thursday evening, illegal paramilitary colonizers caused a power outage in the village of Yasuf, east of Salfit in the occupied West Bank’s central part.
Wael Abu Madi, head of the Yasuf Village Council, said the colonizers from the “Tapuah” illegal colony, established on stolen Palestinian lands, destroyed the electricity room and transformer supplying the village, located at the eastern entrance, leading to the power outage.
Abu Madi added that Yasuf is subjected to continuous attacks by the colonizers, including assaults on citizens, preventing them from accessing their lands, closing the main entrance, and repeatedly cutting off the electricity supply.
Earlier Friday, several colonizers from the same colony attacked farmers from Yasuf while they were harvesting olives west of the village, throwing stones at them, which resulted in a farmer being hit in the head with a stone.
All of Israel’s colonies in the occupied West Bank, including those in and around occupied East Jerusalem, are illegal under International Law, the Fourth Geneva Convention in addition to various United Nations and Security Council resolutions. They also constitute war crimes under International Law.
Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention states: “The Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies.” It also prohibits the “individual or mass forcible transfers, as well as deportations of protected persons from occupied territory”.
