In a serious escalation, the Israeli occupation army killed a young man participating in the funeral procession of the slain Palestinian child, Mohammad Moayyad Bahjat al-‘Allami, 11, shot and killed by the army in Beit Ummar town, north of Hebron, in southern occupied West Bank.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, Shawkat Khaled Awad, 20, who was participating in the funeral procession, was shot and critically injured after being shot by an Israeli soldier with live rounds in the head and abdomen, and later died from his wounds.

The Ministry added that Awad, pictured below, positioned very close to the body of the slain child, posing no threat to the soldiers’ lives.

A video of the funeral procession clearly shows a large group of Palestinian men, some of whom are carrying the child’s body, as the army opens fire, forcing the mourners to run while carrying the slain boy’s body.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) reported that at least twelve of the mourners were shot with live rounds, including Awad, who subsequently died from his critical injuries.

On July 28, 2021, the Israeli army opened fire at the al-‘Allami family vehicle at the entrance to Beit Ummar town, north of Hebron, striking the 11-year-old child in the chest, he was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his critical wounds.
