On Wednesday evening, Israeli soldiers attacked a funeral procession of a man in Beit Ummar town, north of Hebron in the occupied West Bank’s southern part, causing several injuries.
Eyewitnesses said the Palestinians were carrying a deceased man to the local cemetery after holding his funeral ceremony at a local mosque when the soldiers attacked them.
They said the soldiers fired many gas bombs and concussion grenades at the mourners, causing many to suffer the effects of tear gas inhalation.
The attack took place near the local cemetery close to the town’s main entrance, where Israeli soldiers are constantly deployed and frequently attack funeral processions.
Two years ago, Israeli soldiers killed a young man, Health, Shawkat Khaled Awad, 20, while participating in the funeral procession of the slain Palestinian child, Mohammad Moayyad Bahjat al-‘Allami, 11, shot and killed by the army in Beit Ummar.
