On Wednesday, Israeli soldiers demolished a Palestinian home and bulldozed lands in Khirbet Khallet al-Foren, in the village of Birin, east of Hebron, in the occupied West Bank’s southern part.

The head of the Birin Village Council, Farid Burgan, said the army invaded the village, and demolished a two-story 200 square meters home, owned by Hamza Ayesh Zein.

He added that Hamza lived on the property along with his family and that the soldiers also demolished a water well and uprooted crops and trees.

Farid added that the soldiers also demolished cement walls and removed barbwires around one Dunam of land the family owns.

He also said that attacks are parts of Israel’s constant violations and the attempts to displace the population and expand the illegal Pnei Hever colony, built on stolen Palestinian lands.

Farid called on various local, regional, and international legal rights and legal groups to intervene and help end the escalating Israeli crimes and violations.

The demolition of homes is an illegal act of collective punishment that violates International Law, the Fourth Geneva Convention and various international resolutions.

All of Israel’s colonies in the occupied West Bank, including those in and around occupied East Jerusalem, are illegal under International Law, the Fourth Geneva Convention in addition to various United Nations and Security Council resolutions. They also constitute war crimes under International Law.

Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention states: “The Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies.” It also prohibits the “individual or mass forcible transfers, as well as deportations of protected persons from occupied territory.”
