On Thursday, Israeli soldiers injured dozens of Palestinians, marking the Palestinian Land Day east of Gaza city.
Media sources said hundreds of Palestinians marched on their lands near the fence, east of Gaza city, marking Land Day, carrying Palestinian flags and chanting for their internationally guaranteed Right of Return to their lands.
The sources added that the soldiers across the fence fired many live rounds and high-velocity gas bombs at the protesters.
Medical sources said the soldiers shot five Palestinians with live fire before they were rushed to the Shifa Medical center in Gaza city.
They added that at least 100 Palestinians suffered the severe effect of teargas inhalation and were treated by field medics.
Land Day is an annual day of commemoration for Palestinians of events that date back to March 30th 1976. In response to the Israeli government’s announcement of a plan to expropriate thousands of Palestinian-owned acres of land for ‘security and settlement purposes’, a general strike and marches were organized in Arab towns from the Galilee to the Negev.
In the ensuing confrontations at the time with the Israeli army and police, six Palestinians were killed, about one hundred were wounded, and the Israeli police arrested hundreds of others.
Today, Land Day is an important annual day of commemoration in the Palestinian national political calendar, it is marked not only by Palestinian- citizens of Israel, but by Palestinians all over the world and their supporters.
