Israeli soldiers seriously injured a Palestinian child, at dawn Monday, after opening live fire toward residential homes in ‘Aida refugee camp, north of Bethlehem in the southern West Bank, local media sources and medical teams said.
Media sources said the soldiers, positioned in the Israeli military tower overlooking the northern entrance of the refugee camp, fired multiple live rounds at homes.
The Palestinian News & Info Agency (WAFA) said one of the bullets struck Mohammad Nidal Zboun, 15, in the chest, causing a serious injury.
Palestinian medics rushed to the area, provided the child with urgent first aid, and transferred him to a hospital for further treatment.
The military tower at the entrance of ‘Aida refugee camp has been the site of repeated Israeli attacks, including the firing of live ammunition, tear gas, and concussion grenades toward densely populated residential areas.
Human rights organizations have repeatedly documented the use of live fire against children in the camp during similar invasions.
