Illegal paramilitary Israeli colonizers attempted to invade the outskirts of Osarin, southeast of the northern West Bank city of Nablus, late Thursday night, but the town’s residents and youth collectively confronted them and forced them to flee before reaching the homes.
Local sources said dozens of colonizers gathered on the southern edges of Osarin and tried to advance toward the community, before residents confronted them, hurled stones at them and pushed them back amid chants and calls to defend the town.
Osarin has been subjected to continuous colonizer attacks aimed at seizing its lands and restricting Palestinian movement.
The town is surrounded by several large colonies and their outposts, which have expanded onto the lands of Osarin and neighboring villages including Beita, Aqraba, and Qabalan.
Colonizers repeatedly attempt to establish new outposts, tents, and caravans on the hills and agricultural areas between Osarin and Beita to link the colonial sites and expand their control.
These attempts routinely spark confrontations between residents and colonizers, who are protected by the Israeli occupation army to facilitate the establishment of new outposts.
Osarin lies about 16 kilometers southeast of Nablus and is surrounded by Aqraba, Talfit, and Beita. The town is known for its mountainous terrain and relies heavily on olive cultivation and seasonal agriculture, in addition to work in various sectors.
