A Palestinian detainee died in an Israeli hospital on Monday, one month after he was shot by an illegal colonizer and abducted by Israeli forces in Deir Istiya, northwest of Salfit in the central occupied West Bank.

In a joint statement, the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS) and the Commission for Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs announced that the young man Qusay Ibrahim Ali Rayyan, 29, succumbed to his injuries in Beilinson Hospital in Israel.

The two organizations stated that Rayyan, a father of one, from the town of Qarawat Bani Hassan, northwest of Salfit, was shot by an illegal Israeli colonizer and abducted by Israeli forces on April 15, 2026, in the Wadi Abbas area near Deir Istiya town.

The prisoners associations announced that Israeli authorities released the wounded Rayyan from detention on April 30, 2026 after his health significantly deteriorated; he remained in critical condition at the Beilinson Hospital before died of serious injuries on Monday.

They added that the army falsely accused Rayyan of attempting to carry out a stabbing attack, after he approached a number of settlers near the illegal Revava colony, stating that he was killed in cold blood under false pretences.

Since the beginning of 2026, Israeli soldiers and colonizers have killed 57 Palestinian citizens, including 13 children and 6 women in the occupied West Bank.

In the Jenin governorate, 2 Palestinians have been killed in 2026, while 2 were killed in Qalqilia, 5 in Tubas, 11 in Nablus, 2 in Jericho and the Jordan Valley, 11 in Ramallah, 6 in Jerusalem, 3 in Bethlehem, 14 in Hebron, and 1 in Salfit, according to the Shireen Observatory.
