Israeli occupation forces fired tear‑gas canisters toward residents of Tulkarem Refugee Camp, in Tulkarem in the northwestern West Bank on Monday evening, targeting civilians who were attempting to enter the camp and reach their homes after rumors spread about a possible military withdrawal from several areas inside the camp.

The incident followed the army’s pullout from the Barqawi building, located near the camp’s al‑Moqata’a neighborhood, which the military had converted into a fortified outpost for months.

The partial withdrawal prompted building owners and several residents to approach the site to assess the extensive destruction and vandalism left behind.

Feisal Salama, head of the Popular Committee for Services in Tulkarem Camp, dismissed reports of a full withdrawal as “false,” urging residents not to approach the camp’s interior due to the continued presence of occupation forces.

Salama said: “We urge our people not to follow any rumor. No official body has informed us of a withdrawal. The army is still inside the camp, and anyone entering exposes themselves — and especially children — to real danger.”

The Israeli military continues its offensive on Tulkarem city, Tulkarem Camp, and Nur Shams Camp for the 470th consecutive day, imposing a suffocating siege, inflicting widespread destruction on infrastructure and civilian property, and forcing thousands of residents into displacement.
