Israeli soldiers and illegal colonizers invaded, Wednesday evening, Palestinian lands in Birin village, south of the southern West Bank city of Hebron, before confiscating water pumps and cables, in addition to destroying a water network.
Farid Burqan, the head of Birin Village Council, said the soldiers and the colonizers invaded agricultural lands owned by Mershed Hasan al-Atiyyat, before confiscating two water pumps in addition to electric cables.
Burqan added that the soldiers also destroyed water tanks and their network used for irrigation and hooking Mershed’s home with running water and cables providing his home with electricity.
The official also said the area is subject to ongoing violations by the soldiers and the colonizers, living on stolen Palestinian lands and constantly trying to force the Palestinians out to expand the illegal Bnei Hever colony.
All of Israel’s colonies in the occupied West Bank, including those in and around occupied East Jerusalem, are illegal under International Law, the Fourth Geneva Convention, in addition to various United Nations and Security Council resolutions. They also constitute war crimes under International Law.
Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention states: “The Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies.” It also prohibits the “individual or mass forcible transfers, as well as deportations of protected persons from occupied territory.”
