On Tuesday, Day 57 since the resumption of the genocide, the Israeli army continued the bombing and shelling of the devastated, starved and besieged Gaza Strip, killing at least 27 Palestinians, including a journalist, and wounding more than 70, including children and women.
Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has accused Israel of deliberately using food and humanitarian aid as a tool of war in Gaza.
Several Palestinians were killed and many injured, on Tuesday evening, following Israeli airstrikes targeting the Gaza European Hospital and its surroundings in Khan Younis, in southern Gaza.
The Gaza Ministry of Health reported that 16 civilians were killed and more than 70 others sustained injuries, including journalists, following an intense Israeli airstrike targeting the courtyard of the European Hospital.
Israeli warplanes fired nine missiles, resulting in casualties, severe wounds, and individuals still unaccounted for beneath the debris.
Medical sources said Israeli warplanes carried out intense bombardments near the hospital, including the entrance to the emergency department, the maintenance and anthropology wards, and areas close to the Ihsan Al-Agha and Jenin shelter centers.
The Palestinian Health Ministry said the Israeli bombing of the Gaza European Hospital and its surrounding areas, has resulted in killing sixteen Palestinians and wounding seventy.
The Israeli military and Shin Bet alleged that they had targeted and destroyed Hamas infrastructure allegedly located beneath the European Hospital in Khan Younis.
According to the unsubstantiated statement, Israeli forces carried out a precise strike on what they described as a command and control center used by Hamas underneath the hospital.
In response, Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis declared a state of emergency in its reception and emergency departments, as the Gaza European Hospital reported its inability to handle incoming casualties and medical cases due to the destruction caused by the strikes.
The medical complex urged more Palestinians to donate blood to save the lives of dozens of wounded Palestinians.
British surgeon Tom Potokar, who is at the Gaza’s European Hospital, said the medical facility can no longer operate on patients due to the damage by Israeli strikes.
Earlier, medical sources have confirmed that the Israeli army assassinated wounded Palestinian photojournalist Hasan Islayeh while receiving treatment at Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis.

Hasan Islayeh was assassinated in an Israeli airstrike while receiving medical treatment after being injured in a previous attack on a press tent about a month ago, which resulted in the amputation of several fingers. Back in May 2024, the Israeli army also targeted with a missile Islayeh’s home in Khan Younis.
The Israeli military, in coordination with Shin Bet, announced that it had killed Palestinian Islayeh, alleging, without evidence, that he was “disguised as a journalist” and operated within Hamas ranks.
These claims come amid ongoing Israeli attacks on journalists in Gaza, raising further concerns about targeting media professionals under unverified accusations.
In addition, Israeli warplanes launched an airstrike on a displacement tent west of Khan Younis, southern Gaza, killing two civilians and injuring others.
According to reports, Ahmad Osama Al-Lahwani and Hiba Jalal Qassem Al-Lahwani (23 years old) were killed in the attack, while several others sustained injuries. The wounded were transferred to Kuwait Specialized Field Hospital for treatment.
Additionally, Mohammad Naif Mahmoud Baroud succumbed to injuries sustained in a previous Israeli strike on western Khan Younis.
The Palestinian Civil Defense reported that two of its medics were injured when Israeli forces bombed a house that had already been targeted earlier. The attack occurred while the medics were attempting to evacuate wounded Palestinians from the property.
Meanwhile, several Palestinians were wounded by Israeli drone fire in the Zeitoun and Tal Al-Hawa neighborhoods in southern Gaza City. Another individual was injured when two artillery shells landed near Al-Shawa Square in the eastern part of the city.
Israeli artillery also shelled the Sikka Street in eastern Zeitoun, while airstrikes targeted Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza, causing further destruction and casualties.
In Jabalia, in northern Gaza, at least four Palestinians were killed and many injured when the army bombarded a home in the town.
In central Gaza, the army fired barrages of live rounds at an-Nuseirat, al-Maghazi and Al-Bureij refugee camps, in addition to Deir Al-Balah city, Zawaida town, Al-Musaddar town and Wadi As-Salqa.
In related news, the Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate organized a gathering at the courtyard of Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip, to condemn the Israeli assassination of wounded journalist and the ongoing Israeli targeting of media professionals and outlets.
Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), has accused Israel of deliberately using food and humanitarian aid as a tool of war in Gaza, describing it as a “war crime.”
In a statement published on UNRWA’s official website on Tuesday, Lazzarini asserted, “There is no doubt that what we have witnessed over the past 19 months—especially in the last two months—is a deliberate use of food and aid to achieve political or military objectives in Gaza.”
He emphasized that while the International Court will make its own assessment, the reality on the ground clearly demonstrates “this inhumane tactic.”
Lazzarini cited international reports, including the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), which indicate that Gaza is on the brink of famine. The entire population—over two million people, nearly half of whom are children—is suffering from severe food insecurity due to the ongoing Israeli blockade.
Lazzarini urged the international community to take immediate action to ensure humanitarian aid reaches Gaza, warning that if the blockade persists, it will lead to an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe.
Al-Jazeera said that Nicolas de Rivière, the French envoy to the United Nations voiced strong opposition to Israel’s proposed mechanism for distributing and managing humanitarian aid in Gaza, calling for immediate action to remove obstacles hindering relief efforts.
“We oppose Israel’s aid distribution mechanism, which contradicts international law and fails to meet humanitarian needs,” the French representative stated, urging Israel to lift restrictions on humanitarian supplies and relief workers in Gaza without delay.
The envoy further warned that Israel’s violations of international law would not enhance its security but instead jeopardize regional stability. Additionally, France condemned Israel’s planned extension of military operations in Gaza.
Al-Jazeera added that the British envoy to the UN, Barbara Woodward, reaffirmed the UK’s rejection of any humanitarian aid mechanism in Gaza that serves political or military objectives rather than addressing urgent civilian needs.
Echoing these concerns, Martin Griffiths, the UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs stated that Israel’s approach to aid distribution in Gaza is not a viable solution to the crisis.
Griffiths stated that Israel is imposing inhumane conditions on civilians in the occupied Palestinian territories.
He criticized the ongoing blockade on Gaza, describing it as severe, and noted that Israeli ministers openly take pride in it. He further emphasized that Israel’s approach to aid distribution in Gaza is not a viable solution to the humanitarian crisis.
Meanwhile, Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth stated today that an Israeli negotiation delegation has arrived in Doha – Qatar, following pressure from U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff on Tel Aviv to send representatives for talks.
According to Israel’s Channel 13, Witkoff urged Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli leadership during recent meetings to seize what he described as a “window of opportunity” in the coming days to reach a deal for a ceasefire in Gaza and a prisoner exchange.
Since October 7, 2023, Israeli attacks have killed more than 52,906 Palestinians, including at least 15,626 children, 9,807 women, 3,855 elderly individuals, 237 journalists, and 23 medics. At least 119,721 people—mostly children, women, and the elderly—have been wounded.
The figures remain incomplete, as many victims are still trapped under rubble or in areas inaccessible to rescue teams due to massive destruction caused by ongoing Israeli bombings and invasions.
