The UN’s humanitarian coordinator in the occupied Palestinian territories, Muhannad Hadi, has issued a warning about the potential halt of crucial aid deliveries across Gaza, which include vital food, water, fuel, and medical supplies.
In a press release on Friday, Hadi emphasized that the lives of over two million Palestinians in Gaza are at serious risk, noting that Israeli authorities have blocked commercial imports for the past six weeks.
Hadi explained that Palestinian civilians are struggling to endure in unlivable conditions amid continuous hostilities.
“They are being pushed to the edge, deprived of essential support they desperately need, facing an unparalleled humanitarian catastrophe,” he stated.
He emphasized that humanitarian agencies in Gaza remain committed to their work, although there are growing concerns about their capacity to operate.
Hadi urged for the immediate and unobstructed delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza through all legal channels.
Israel has now killed at least 44,056 Palestinians and wounded more than 104,286 since October 7, 2023. Thousands of Palestinians remain under the rubble in various parts of the coastal enclave as rescue teams are unable to reach them due to the lack of equipment caused by the ongoing conflict and deadly siege on the coastal enclave.
