NABLUS, Monday, February 20, 2023 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Monday morning took measurements of the family houses of two Palestinians in the occupied West Bank city of Nablus in preparation for demolition as collective punishment, according to security sources.

A sizable army force barged its way into the city and broke into the houses of the families of  Osama al-Tawil and Abed al-Kamel Jury, took measurements of them in preparation for imminent punitive demolition.

Al-Tawil and Jury are two Palestinians whom Israel accuses of carrying out a shooting attacks that resulted in the killing of a soldier near the illegal colonial settlement of Shavei Shomron in October of last year.

The raid triggered confrontations which saw the gun-toting soldiers opening fire toward local youths attempting to block their entry, hitting one by a live round in the right foot and causing 20 others to suffocate from teargas inhalation.

Israel resorts to punitively demolishing the family homes of Palestinians as a means of deterrence- accused of being involved in attacks against Israelis, a policy that Israel does not apply to Israeli settlers who were involved in fatal attacks against Palestinians.

Human rights groups widely condemned the policy as “a collective punishment” and “a war crime and crime against humanity.”
