US Democratic Representative Ro Khanna said armed Israeli settlers detained him for more than an hour during a visit to the occupied West Bank, an incident he said gave him a direct view of the reality of the Israeli occupation and what Palestinians who live in the West Bank face on a daily basis.
Khanna explained that the incident took place during his visit to Khirbet Zanuta village in the southern West Bank, a village that has been subjected to destruction carried out by Israeli paramilitary settlers, including the demolition of the school and residents’ homes.
He added that Israeli settlers carrying US made M4 rifles surrounded the minibus he was traveling in with his aide Cameron Kasky and prevented them from leaving before Israeli forces intervened.
Later Saturday night, armed Israeli paramilitary colonists under the protection of the Israeli occupation forces attacked the village of Al-Mughayyir, northeast of Ramallah, on Saturday evening.
The head of the Al-Mughayyir Village Council, Amin Abu Alia, told Wafa news that Israeli paramilitary colonists, protected by Israeli occupation forces, attacked the village from the eastern side and tried to raid the home of citizen Muhammad Hamid Abu Alia.
Abu Alia added that the Israeli colonists grazed their sheep on citizens’ agricultural lands in the region, which led to damage to trees and crops.
Palestinian citizens were injured by live bullets, rubber-coated metal bullets, and sound bombs during an attack by the occupation army and colonists on the same house this morning, and the Israeli occupation soldiers also abducted the young man, Moamen Abdel Latif Abu Alia, during the attack.
