Palestinian medical sources at Al Ahli Hospital, in the southern West Bank city of Hebron, reported on Wednesday evening that a Palestinian child from Tiqoua’ village, near Bethlehem, was seriously injured when a settler opened fire at him on Wednesday afternoon.The child was identified as Haitham Khalil Abu Mfarrih, 14. He was shot in his back by a settler driving on the main road close to the village.
The sources stated that the child is in a serious condition and that he is currently unconscious in an intensive care unit.
Local sources reported that the settler fired at farmland near the main road. He shot and injured the child and fired at four or five other children who were in the area but they managed to escape the shooting unharmed, eyewitnesses reported.
The eyewitnesses added that the children were picking almonds at the time and that no one hurled stones at the settlers’ vehicle.
An Israeli military source claimed that the army is currently investigating the incident after the family of the injured child filed a complaint against the assailant.
