Israeli army tanks stationed east of Khan Younis city in the southern part of the Gaza Strip opened fire at nearby Palestinian civilian homes on Tuesday morning. The homes sustained damage, no injures were reported.

In the meantime the Palestinian minister of information Dr. Mustafa Al Barghouthi warned of the catastrophic effects of the possible Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip. This warning came in a press conference held in the central West Bank city of Ramallah on Tuesday.

Al Barghouthi stated that in the past month the Israeli military has carried out at least 128 small scale invasions of the Gaza Strip, leaving 23 killed, among them 3 children. The Minster also said that the language of threats provoke Palestinian reactions and may drag the region into a devastating cycle of violence.

Dr. Al Barghouthi appealed to international parties to put pressure on Israel to stop its aggression and to respond to the Palestinian initiative of comprehensive, mutual and simultaneous calm.
