Israeli occupation forces have continued their intensified offensive on Tulkarem city, located in the northwestern region of the occupied West Bank, and its refugee camps for the 68th consecutive day. The Nur Shams refugee camp has faced 55 days of relentless and ongoing invasions, marked by significant military reinforcements and escalating field operations.
Early Friday, additional Israeli military units were deployed in Tulkarem and its refugee camps, with infantry troops heavily stationed along Nablus Street leading to the Nur Shams refugee camp, east of the city. Gunfire echoed through the camp during the invasion.
Infantry units were also observed spreading across the road connecting Ektaba suburb’s employee housing area to Hassouna roundabout, blocking traffic and deliberately disrupting the movement of residents.
Israeli forces also established a sudden military roadblock early Friday near the entrance of the Salam neighborhood, close to Nur Shams refugee camp. Passing vehicles were stopped and searched, with one driver being stripped of a sum of money. Several young men were detained, subjected to invasive searches, and were also assaulted.
In recent days, Israeli bulldozers have sealed off sections of Nablus Street with dirt barriers, especially near Tulkarem refugee camp. Homes along the street were seized by Israeli forces, converted into military outposts, and surrounded by military vehicles.
A suffocating siege remains imposed on the Nur Shams refugee camp, with repeated invasions involving bulldozers, infantry units, and armored vehicles. These incursions included widespread destruction, arson, and the forced eviction of residents, particularly in the Jabal Al-Nasr and Al-Saleheen neighborhoods.
Late Thursday night, Israeli troops entered neighborhoods within Tulkarem refugee camp, specifically Qaqoun and Abu Al-Fool, where they detained and assaulted a resident, whose identity remains unknown.
The once-thriving refugee camp now lies deserted, its infrastructure destroyed, homes burned, and its remaining structures looted and demolished.
During the night, Israeli military vehicles patrolled Tulkarem’s streets, especially near Martyr Thabet Thabet Square and the Banks Street, obstructing the passage of civilians and vehicles.
On Thursday, Israeli bulldozers began demolishing parts of Ektaba suburb’s roads, stretching 800 meters from a main Water Pump area near Ektaba roundabout to the employee housing district. This offensive caused extensive damage to essential infrastructure, including water and sewage systems.
The prolonged assault on Tulkarem and its refugee camps has resulted in the killing of 13 Palestinians, including a child and two women, one of whom was eight months pregnant.
Dozens of residents have been injured or abducted, and over 4,000 families from Tulkarem and Nur Shams refugee camps have been forcibly displaced.
Scores of families from the city’s northern neighborhoods have also been displaced after their homes were seized and turned into military bases.
The devastation extends to infrastructure, homes, businesses, and vehicles, with 396 homes demolished and 2,573 partially destroyed across Tulkarem and Nur Shams refugee camps. Entrances and alleyways within the camps have been blocked by dirt barriers, further isolating the residents and stifling their movement.
