Israeli soldiers fired several artillery shells into areas in the southern and central parts of the Gaza Strip, in addition to flares, reportedly after a shell was fired from Gaza, but detonated shortly after launch.

Media sources in Gaza said several Israeli artillery shells were fired into an area, east of al-Qarara town, and east of Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.

The sources added that shells were also fired into an area, in Deir al-Balah, in central Gaza. The shells caused damage, without leading to casualties.

The Israeli army said Palestinian fighters fired a shell towards its Kissufim military base, across the border fence, but the shell exploded in Palestinian lands, and added that it was investigating the incident.
