Hamas slammed on Saturday a recommendation by the central committee of Fatah roughly setting a new date for the Parliamentary elections.
Hamas’ spokesman in Gaza Strip, Sami Abu Zuhri slammed this recommendation saying, such an issue is of a national interest and is not for Fatah alone to decide on it, hinting to the unilateral decision by Fatah bloc in the Palestinian Legislative council to delay the elections.
Abu Zuhri also slammed the suggested period for holding the election saying it is too far. Hamas is interested in an earlier date for the election, he added.
Fatah leaders meeting in Amman recommended holding the elections before the end of next January. The Palestinian elections, originally slated for July 17, were delayed by a Presidential decree until further notice because of election law modifications, according to PA officials.
