Palestinian Prime Minister, Mohammad Shtayyeh said that the “issue of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails will remain a top priority and it will be raised at international forums.”
The Palestinian News and Info Agency (WAFA) reported the P.M. visit to the village of Silet al-Daher, in the northern occupied West Bank city of Jenin, where the P.M. visited the family of Sami Abu Diak, the Palestinian prisoner held in Israeli jail.
Abu Diak, a political prisoner, has recently suffered severe deterioration in his health. Abu Diak suffers from cancer, which has possibly spread throughout his body, in addition to ailing from kidney and lung failure.
He was arrested in July 17, 2002, and was sentenced to three life sentences in prison for ‘resisting the Israeli occupation’.
The P.M. stressed that the Israeli occupation deprives prisoners of proper medical care, and is the reason behind all illnesses, noting that the Palestine Red Crescent Society has been notified about this.
Shtayyeh praised Abu Diak’s mother and family for their steadfastness, along with all the families of prisoners, and conveyed the greetings of President Mahmoud Abbas, thanking those in charge of the solidarity campaign organized in support of Abu Diak.
